When the State Takes Kids Away From Parents: Three Perspectives

When the State Takes Kids Away From Parents: Three Perspectives - Conor Friedersdorf - The Atlantic:

In the reader correspondence that follows, a former child protective services worker shares her perspective on the system, the difficulty of working within it, and its paternalistic excesses. A woman who says the system saved her from an abusive father doubts the narrative that CPS is overaggressive at protecting kids. And a father investigated for child abuse says that the experience radicalized him.

Comment: It isn't just Michigan that receives money for every child placed in Foster care and adopted out. This is a Nationwide problem. The reason I say Problem is because CPS is only rewarded for every child they steal. This is definitely a backward system. The only time they should be rewarded is when they actually provide services to at-risk families and keep the families together. When one is PAID to Steal children, what incentive do they have to work to keep the family together? NONE! Title IV funding MUST end!
